Please Do Your Part to Keep Our Community Safe!
December, 16 2020

With the holiday season fast-approaching, we anticipate more people may be frequenting their Deanlea Beach property over the next few weeks. On behalf of the Board of Directors, and to ensure the safety of everyone, we feel it is important to make you aware of at least 3 incidents (that we know of) where dogs off-leash have attacked other dogs and their owners. One attack that occurred in mid-October resulted in emergency surgery for the dog and he is still recovering. So please remember that your dog must be on a leash at all times! This will ensure that everyone in our community feels safe when out walking and can enjoy what Deanlea Beach has to offer without worry.

Thank you and Merry Christmas!
Connie Wheeler
President, DBA

Each year the Deanlea Beach Association donates a small gift of $100 to the Georgian Bay Hospital Foundation to purchase vital and essential equipment. We do so in honour and memory of our beloved neighbours who have passed away. The Deanlea Beach Association has made donations to the Georgian Bay General Hospital Foundation on behalf of these very special individuals and would like to extend our condolences to their families and loved ones.

Spring AGM Update / Recommended Practices
April, 04 2020

Please read the attached document for more details. As a summary:

In our Winter 2020 Newsletter, the DBA announced the AGM would be held on Sat. May 16, 2020 from 12:00-14:00. However, this is a little over 40 days away and, based on what we know to date, we feel the chances of the authorities allowing gatherings of 50 or more people will be very low at that time. Therefore, the Board of Directors has decided to postpone the meeting to a future date in 2020 as per the DBA Constitution.

We believe there are two options for the DBA AGM in 2020:

a) Postpone the physical gathering of DBA members until a later date in 2020, when it is safe to do so; or
b) Conduct a virtual meeting of DBA members at a suitable time and date.

Our preference is to hold a physical gathering sometime later in the year. This has been our tradition and we feel the physical gathering of our community is more important and meaningful than a virtual meeting. Also, the Review of our 2019 DBA Financial Statements has been delayed, and we may not have financial statements until later this summer. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation, and if a physical gathering is not feasible, a virtual AGM will be scheduled. The current Board of Directors has agreed to continue in their roles until new elections can be held at the AGM.

Fun Day - Saturday August 1, 2020: A decision as to whether or not we go ahead with this will be deferred until a later date.

DBA Membership Fees: We still need to collect DBA membership fees; to ensure our taxes are paid, maintain our insurance requirements, and continue property maintenance (i.e., perform road, path, and tree maintenance). This year (2020) the fee will be $50.00 for the entire year.

COVID-19 Recommended Practices: To align with O.Reg. 52/20, we ask you to refrain from having gatherings of 5 or more people on our roads or beach. Please continue to follow the practices recommended by health authorities
